Outside monitoring: do IVF in New York without living in New York.

Your ultrasounds and bloodwork happen at a clinic near you. Aurea Fertility reads every result and adjusts your medication the same day. You travel to Manhattan once — for your egg retrieval.

Outside monitoring

What is outside monitoring for IVF?

Outside monitoring is an arrangement in which the ultrasounds and blood tests that track an IVF cycle are performed at a clinic near the patient's home, while the fertility clinic managing the cycle interprets those results and directs treatment remotely. It is also called satellite monitoring, remote monitoring, or local monitoring.

At Aurea Fertility, outside monitoring means a patient anywhere in the United States or abroad can run a full IVF or egg freezing cycle with an Aurea physician and travel to Manhattan a single time, for the egg retrieval itself. Everything before that — the consultation, the protocol, the medications, the monitoring scans, the dose adjustments — happens where the patient already lives.

The reason this works is arithmetic. An IVF cycle is roughly two weeks of measurement and one morning of procedure. The measurement is a transvaginal ultrasound and a blood draw — done identically in Manhattan, Cleveland, or Lisbon. Only the retrieval requires a specific lab, specific equipment, and a specific embryologist. Outside monitoring simply stops pretending the other fourteen days need a zip code.

Aurea Fertility is a fertility clinic in New York City founded by Dr. Zaher Merhi, treating women under 40 with an AMH above 1.0 ng/mL, with no weight or BMI limit.

How does outside monitoring work at Aurea Fertility?

1
Get scanned locally

Aurea helps you set up with a monitoring clinic near you — an OB/GYN office, a fertility center, or a hospital lab. You need transvaginal ultrasound with follicle measurements, plus estradiol, LH, and progesterone resulted the same day. Roughly four to five visits across the cycle, most under 30 minutes.

2
Results come to Aurea

Your follicle measurements and hormone levels reach Aurea the morning they're drawn. They're read against your modeled response curve, your physician approves any dose change, and the instruction reaches you by text — same day, in your time zone.

3
Fly to New York once

When your follicles reach size, Aurea sets your trigger and confirms your retrieval date about 48 hours ahead. The retrieval takes 10 to 15 minutes under light anesthesia at 315 W 57th Street in Manhattan. Most patients fly home the next morning.

If you are freezing eggs or embryos, that single trip is the whole of your travel. If you are transferring, you return once more for the embryo transfer, scheduled to your calendar.

What does my local clinic do, and what does Aurea do?

Your local monitoring clinic performs scans and blood draws only. Aurea Fertility makes every clinical decision in the cycle. Bring this table to your local clinic — it answers most of what they will ask.

Where can I do outside monitoring from?

Anywhere with a clinic that can perform a transvaginal ultrasound and return same-day hormone results. Aurea Fertility patients monitor from other US states and from outside the United States. If you are in the New York tri-state area, your monitoring may be with Aurea directly — two of Aurea's three sites are monitoring locations.
